ABOUT RIVER OF LIFE ORGANIZATION

Addressing Social and Economic Challenges

River of Life Organization (ROLIFE) is a local and district-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) legally registered in Malawi.

Founded in 2013, ROLIFE operates under the laws of Malawi and is registered with the Registrar General Office under the 1962 Trustees Incorporation Act (Registration Certificate number: TR/INC 5895). River of Life Organization is a registered member of Council for Non Governmental Organisations in Malawi (CONGOMA). River of Life is a licensed local NGO with Non Govermental Organisations Regulatory Authority ((NGORA). Its licence number is NGO/L/16/077.

The organization is actively working in Phalombe District, located in the Southern part of Malawi.

Addressing Social and Economic Challenges

What We DO

ROLIFE focuses on Education, Health, Youth, Counter Human Trafficking, Women’s Social and Economic Empowerment, and Human and Peoples Rights.

  • Youth Vocational & Life Skills Project

    Since 2017, ROLIFE has been empowering youth with vocational and life skills. The Youth Development Centre in GVH Nyezelera offers training in Welding & Fabrication, Electrical Installation, Carpentry, Bricklaying, Tailoring, and Salon. Youth are also educated on Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR). To date, 1,265 youth (728 male, 537 female) have been trained, including those rescued from labor and sexual exploitation.

  • Primary Health Service

    Since 2015, ROLIFE has provided primary health services through its clinic in Traditional Authority Nyezelera, constructed in 2014. The clinic offers outpatient health services to the surrounding communities.

  • Ulemu Project

    This project empowers girls through education and counseling in health, hygiene, and sanitation, and provides re-usable sanitary pads. "Girls Showers" training sessions are held for girls, and mother groups are trained in producing re-usable sanitary pads.

  • Women Economic Empowerment

    ROLIFE supports women in forming and managing Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs), and provides access to soft loans through the organization and other financial institutions.

  • Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Interception Project

    ROLIFE collaborates with community groups, volunteer monitors, and law enforcers to reduce or end human trafficking. Monitors intercept suspected trafficking cases, and survivors are repatriated to their villages while traffickers are handed over to law enforcement.
